Richard David Jones, 49, of Kitchen Drive, Selby, has been ordered to pay £4,209 compensation to Selby District Council and £4,000 compensation to the Department for Work and Pensions.
Mr Jones failed to notify the council and the Department for Work and Pensions that he had started work in 2005.
